Moving to Houston

So, I live in Houston now! I cant believe it! I was such a die hard Austin Fan, and then all of a sudden, i find myself living in Meyerland, with a job, and a purpose in a new city. Its so strange how change can happen so fast. I think its one of those things where it was meant to happen. Like when things go a certain way and you dont quite know why, you have to say, it probably was supposed to happen that way. So I started my new job on Sept 8th and then Hurricane Ike came to town on the 11th and destroyed downtown. My new job had been put on hold for a week b/c my building the glamourously tall JP morgan Chase building had just about 75% of its windows blown out. So i had a week off to be a refugee and stayed in austin for a few days until we got word that my part of town got power back. It was a bit of an introduction to moving to Houston. It's kind of cool too b/c i've already seen a few people i knew from High School at random places like World Market by the galleria, and Chuy's restaurant on Westheimer (which is the best place to be when you miss Austin, in Houston). But i do have to say i think i could live here for years, for the shopping alone!! I forgot what it was like to have about 6 Targets or other random stores in a 15 mile radius of each other. Its fabulous having so many options. In Austin you would have to go to San Marcos, or Round Rock or Lockhart or Bee Caves, and its no easy search b/c you have to drive for a good 30 min to get there... But in Houston... its seriously easy shopping (minus the galleria, i will always stay away from that place b/c of the parking problems associated with the whole experience)

So, I am happy to be here. I have a fun apartment that doesnt have much furniture in it, but its a start and I'm glad to be here with Marc too, finally!! I'd say two years of long distance earns us the right to live accors the hall from each other. Its just fabulous to see the person you love every day, during the week and into the weekend without driving 5 hours to get to them. Thats all for now, when something else fabulous happens, i'll let you in on it! xoxo

A New Change

OK, so my brother has gotten a job in austin and has moved in with me. Its always so much fun b/c we're ridiculous around each other and totally understand how nuts we both are in our own ways. So his first day is tomorrow and i hope it goes well for him. Starting somewhere new is always a little nerve wracking and tense, but its fun at the same time b/c you get to meet a whole bunch of new people and figure out what your sole purpose is at that new place. I on the other hand will be going back to the same ol place since july 06. Just a few new projects to work on but still wrapping up a few from over a year ago.

So life is back to normal since hawaii and the flow of things...still the same. Another girl at work got engaged so theres the whole, "When are you getting engaged?" question that everyone seems to want to ask b.c everyone in my office (interiors) are all bout the same age and relationship status. Long term relationships... but not ready for marriage. So i do the whole, "I dont know, stop asking me; when it happens you'll know." Turns out last summer about 3 girls got engaged once a month from june to august. So now this girl who just got engaged this summer has now started the ball rolling... stay tuned.

Returning from Maui

Ok, so here goes my first blog. I just returned from a week and a half long trip from Austin texas to Maui, Hawaii. It was a trip for my boyfriends, sister's wedding. I went from austin to dallas for an hour long flight, then onto Maui for a 8hour and 15 min flight. Really quite long. Time went by really quickly though bc we had two movies to watch, "P.S. I love you" and "National Treasure". Those were both really fun movies. I had never seen ps i love you. Great girl movie. Now that i am home, im trying to figure out how to get my body to realize thats its 10pm at night, and not 5pm in the evening; not time to eat dinner time, but time for sleep. It was great bc i got to spend 8 days with Marc, my boyfriend. We're long distance and i havent seen him that many consecutive days in a row since Spring Break 2005 when we went to South Padre for a week. Thats a total of three years. Really not the ideal time line of a relationship, but you do what you gotta do when you know you have a good thing. And He is a very good thing. But now its back to work and hopefully get some work done. We had a big office re-arrange and i'll be sitting in a new desk in the morning. Update later on the week and whats going on in the next few days.
